Astaroth was born in the Land of Azur, known for its rich soil scattered with the magical deep blue Azurite ore, which is used for healing powers and good fortune.
When he was born, Azur was a beautiful place where many dragons roamed through the sky.
On young age - a few years after his birth - There was an attack on Azur. Darkness wanted to get his hands on the blue crystal to get eternal life and all the good fortune. Many dragons were killed, some escaped through portals.

Astaroth's parents hid their son deep in an old and hidden cave, far from the castle to hide him for the dark lords and enchanted his heart with magical powers. these would keep him alive and protected from anything, and they left him a book with drawings of his first years, and little stories.

Not long after, death got upon them too, their castle got destroyed, portals obliterated, Azur got cursed and abandoned. Years go by, no other dragons were left, except for him.
when he looks at the valley what used to be nice grasslands with flowers, he gets reminded to the danger he is living in, living isolated, hidden underground and alone. The red dirt cursed by the dark powers of the dark lords, the still visible ruins of what was once his home, never to be able to return and darkness lurking around waiting trying to find him for his powers.

Decades later, Astaroth managed to make a bit more of a cozy home from his cave.
He started thinking of how he could escape from this dark place, somewhere more safe or where his family went to...

He found out he could go out on certain moments, during storms or heavy fog. With these conditions, the darkness wasn't able to locate him. During these moments he'd go out for food, resources and water to store for drinking. But loneliness got the hand of him. He missed his parents, and there was no one, nothing around to company him. He tried potions of luck on himself he made from the azurite ore he found in his cave. Apparently, this cave was an old entry of one of the azurite mines around Azur.

But unfortunately for the young dragon, his luck, was far upon gone...

While he laid down for a small rest, he started thinking back to his parents. They left him this notebook with a few pictures of them, and a small message about him. He looked over to the book on the crafting table and he sighed. "I wish there was something i could do to bring them back", said the young dragon to himself while enclosing himself in his arms.
"There has to be something i could do to make things good again.. But what!?".

He got up and looked through the little window next to the door. The red sky looked like it was on fire even worse than ever before, and the wind more powerful like it has ever been. The young dragon walked over to his crafting bench, and picked up his notebook.

He opened it on the first page, where a drawing of his parents was, presenting the young dragon as a newborn.
"Dear little Astaroth, your mom and i were so proud when you brought light to our world. Azur got himself a new, wonderful little angel who when he grows big and strong, he will stand proud and guard his realm and keep all the dragons in Azur safe. Son, we are proud of you, our little guardian Astaroth"

After reading that, he slowly put his paw on the picture. "I'm proud of you too, dad and mom..." Said the young dragon while he picked away a tear, preventing it from falling on his notebook.
While he was going through the pages, he felt a big sting in his heart. It made him lean into the table, while holding his hand on his chest. He let out a slight growl from it, and when he opened up his eyes again, his hands were glowing. He felt another sting and then bright lightning bolts crawled all over his hands and his horns.

"What the.... What's going on here, Where does this come from!?!" He said shocked and a little scared while looking at his hands. He didn't feel the lightning bolts, like they were not even there. But he could feel the power coming off from it. "I... hahh... what's ha-HAHH!!-" A sudden bright and powerful light came from his hands and filled the room. He felt the energy like it was coming from him, and it was. The light got less bright, and that's where he realized: ''I can use magic. The po..-" He stopped for a second to catch a breath and looked at the empty flask from the potion he drank.

"The potion..." he whispered while he rushed over to pick up the flask. ''The potion gave me this power... HAHA!" The young dragon happily laughed and he smiled, because he realized what this meant for him. "With this i - i can figure out how to escape from this hellhole, With this i can finally look for my family! " The young dragon paused and started to tear up again. "My-my family.. I need to find them!" In an emotional state he picked up his notebook to find anything that might help him getting to find his family, wherever they may be.

When he was going through the pages of his notebook, he found a note that said something about opening and creating portals. They could be made with the blue crystals and opened with magic spells. But it was only a small scribble, there had to be more information!

the young dragon then quickly started searching his place for more books or parchments that might have any information about how to build a portal, get the crystal working and set a direction to other dimensions.
He dusted off an old crate he kept hidden under his workbench for ages, opened it and found a bunch of old books. He picked a blue died leathered book with a mysterious gold text on the front. "This gotta be something! It's the same color as the Azurite" said the young dragon hopeful.

Unfortunately enough, the book was just scribbles of numbers, pictures of stars and moons and other writings. He threw the book behing him and started going through the other books inside this crate. After going through almost every book, Astaroth sighed sadly and almost gave up. "This is the last one... There better be something in it." He opened the book and found out quickly it was an old recipe book. The young dragon closed his eyes, sat down on the floor, sighed again deeply and just sat there for a minute.

He opened his eyes, looked back at the pile of books he threw behind him, to find out a piece
of parchment fell out of one of the books that he threw out earlier. He picked up the sheet and
started reading the text. Suddenly his face went from sad to excitement! "This is it!.. HaHaa, YES!" He jumped up and danced around a little. "Thank you, whoever! Thank you!" Said the young dragon joyfully while he kissed the piece of parchment.

Having found the one piece of information crucial to build working portals was like a dream coming true for Astaroth. Right after he found the piece and figured out all the text he started building the portal. He made the two bases from cobblestones, he carved two huge stone pillars out of some pieces of rock he got out of the old mines connecting to his home and placed these on top of them. Tough, heavy to do by yourself, but he managed to get them where they needed to be.

Only thing rest to do, placing the top part where the crystal need to be mounted to for the portal to work.
